Gull Wing Named Local Small Business of the Year

Alta company grew out of electrical work

Gull Wing Industries of Alta was selected by the area SCORE chapter for its annual award for entrepreneurial initiative, determination and management. The award plaque was presented Tuesday, May 15, 2001 at an open house for U.S. Small Business Week in this 4-county area of Buena Vista, Cherokee, Pocahontas and Sac. Sheryl Eftink, district director of the SBA office in Des Moines also presented the district award to Silk Screen Ink of Storm Lake at that time.

Gull Wing Industries was incorporated by Alan and Angela Wadsley after Alan developed his electrical junction box idea in the back room of their electrical contracting business in Alta. Dan Cameron is production manager.

The Alta-based company fabricates electrical junction boxes for a wide variety of uses by contractors and midway carnivals. These vary in size from 50 amp to 2000 amps.
